Cinderella

Objective:
Students will attend a fully produced performance of New York City Opera's production of Cinderella Stories demonstrating appropriate audience behavior.

What teachers should do before the performance:

  • Please take time to discuss the GOOD AUDIENCES sheet with your students.
  • Use the City Opera VIRTUAL TOUR on this site to show your students a front-of-house and backstage view of the theater
  • Review the music of the opera with your students from the opera CD

What students will do:

PLAYING YOUR PART: BE A GOOD AUDIENCE

Students attending in-school workshops and City Opera's dress rehearsal will be expected to know how to be a good audience. Aaron Davis Hall is a large space and all audience members will be expected to be respectful of one another and the performers.

A New York City Volunteer(s) will greet students and teachers and then guide you to your seats. The volunteer will remain with your class during the rehearsal. Please ask your Volunteer for any necessary assistance.

Students may not leave their seats during the performance for restroom breaks, etc. Any student who leaves his/her seat for an emergency must be chaperoned by an adult and may not return to their seat except during intermission.

Running time for the performance is a total of seventy minutes including one fifteen-minute intermission.

Please be advised that food and drink are not allowed in the theater. Students should eat prior to the performance, not during the intermission.
